Pattern: Original design.
Technique: Hand stitched.
Medium: Hand dyed and printed cotton and velvet.
A meteorite has broken through the earth's atmosphere and landed on a lake of ice. The heat of the molten rock melts the ice causing ripples of water to spread out around the glowing center.
The dark red fabric is outlined in variegated embroidery stitch. There are lines of hand quilting rippling out from the velvet meteor.
The gathered velvet fabric is appliquéd onto four more layers of appliquéd fabric.
