Mankind reaches the top of the cliffs of progress and looks down from a great height at the Mandelbrot Lake floating serenely through clouds.

The hand dyed silk is stitched down with glass beads and embroidery floss. A tiny running stitch secures it to the muslin background.

To give the effect of hazy clouds floating over the Mandelbrot set tiny glass beads and strands of embroidery floss are stitched down. The vertical lines are hand quilted.

The edge of the purple Mandelbrot set is appliquéd down and then outlined with embroidery floss.

All the curved pieces are hand seamed and then the whole section is appliquéd onto a muslin background. They are outlined with hand quilting.
