Pattern: Original fractal design.
Technique: Hand stitched.
Medium: Commercially printed cotton fabric.

In 2014 Donna deSoto invited quilt artists to create a piece depicting the Flora and Fauna of our American National Parks. I chose Bracken from the North Cascades park. At the time, I was living nearby in Portland, Oregon.

Bracken is a fern. Ferns are natural fractals so my style fitted the criteria. Pulling out the natural colors of bracken, I was able to design a 'fractal fern' for this project.

The book - Inspired by the National Parks: Their Landscapes and Wildlife in Fabric Perspectives by Donna deSoto, is available with pictures of all the quilts. The quilts travelled around the USA as a touring exhibition at various venues.
