Medium: Commercially printed cotton fabric and flexible mirror.
Taking the traditional quilt into the virtual world. Using catoptric persective the design is stretched into a semi-circular shape. When a cylinder mirror is placed on the right spot, the quilt is reflected as a correctly proportioned rectangular bed quilt.
Here you can see the reflection of the real quilt in a cylindral mirror. The image is close to rectangular and in correct proportions.
The quilting line is hand stitched in variegated thread. The design is morphed so it will reflect correctly in the cylindrical mirror.
Each stretched square has the traditional oak leaf and reel pattern fused onto the background. Each piece is hand appliquéd around the raw edge in button hole stitch.
