PORTRAIT OF PENNY TAPESTRY

We used to look after Penny, a mixed miniature pinscher/chihuahua who lives with my brother-in-law and his husband. Sadly Penny and her family moved away and we no longer see them. Penny is just a little bit older than our black miniature poodle Pepper. They loved playing together and chased each other round and round, ripping up any toy in their way, dashing over and under furniture, begging treats, and generally causing mayhem.

This picture was taken when Penny was staying with us for a couple of nights. She commandeered Pepper’s bed, stayed still long enough that I was able to get this cute picture.

This is my first larger piece of beaded artwork and I learned a ton of stuff such as: don’t make such a big piece or you’ll be doing it FOREVER, and: you can’t get all the beads from the same store because the dreaded words “Out of Stock” appear far too often, and: if you are going to use 2 wingspans of thread then pay attention and unwind it often or you’ll be spending more time cursing and less time actually beading.

Nonetheless, despite the setbacks, I think this piece came out rather well though I say it myself.
